Most people almost always fallback to Unity engine. UE3 is newer and better but tbh too many setbacks. It's like unity and ♥♥♥♥ idk unreal engine 3? Unity was first so everyone sorta already figured out everything. Imo other newer ones especially fusion girl came out later but CBBE was the first and most easiest to work with. Not to mention that about 1/2 of all armor and clothing type mods are all CBBE related in bodyslider studio.
